    Multimedia Marketing

Broadband Internet Service is rapidly expanding the options available to communicate information on the Web. 56K connections are becoming a thing of the past and download and upload times aren‘t as restrictive as they were just a couple of years ago. I am going to focus on two forms of Multimedia that can work very well on the web.

    Flash
Flash exploded on the scene about 3 or 4 years ago and designers and techies immediately begin touting the technology as the web‘s next killer application. In my opinion, Flash was over done in the early years and dial-up connections made Flash applications very slow to load. Now that the hype has died down and broadband has emerged, Flash can provide a very effective and creative way to market your business.

Flash enables you to add audio and animation to your website and emails. A two-dimensional design can come alive with Flash by adding movement, a voiceover, and music. Another great benefit to Flash is that it is interactive. You can add links so your visitors have the ability to customize their experience. I have included a few ideas of ways to add Flash to your website regardless of the industry you are in.
    Product Tutorial / Company Overview
One of the biggest advantages of Flash is the ability to control your visitor‘s experience. Because Flash is animated, you can ensure your visitors view information in the right order in specific amount of time. You can even add audio to make sure they get your message. If you are selling a product, Flash is a great way to communicate the features and benefits of the product and educate people on ways to use it. If you are a service company, Flash can be used effectively to create an interesting Company overview.

    Website Introduction
A great way to make your website stand out from the competition is to add a short animated introduction just before your homepage. It can be as simple as your logo and tag line coming together or intricate with audio and video. Either way, a well-done Flash introduction will leave an impression on your site visitors and help you stand out.
There are numerous other ways to incorporate Flash into your website but the ideas above are fairly universal and can be applied to almost any business.

    Video Technology
Video technology is another tool that is becoming more useful as Internet speeds increase. Unlike Flash, Video‘s are not interactive but they still provide an interesting way to communicate information. Remember the old saying, “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words.”.
    Location Tours
If you own a business where your location or offices are important to your success, than video can be a great tool for you. A perfect example of this is Bed & Breakfast that once to provide web visitors an overview of their property and rooms.
If you want to get really creative you can combine Flash and Video to make a very creative presentation. I hope this article gives you some ideas on ways to improve your current website. I have a provided a few links below where you can find more information on the technologies mentioned in this article.
